Palazzo Pitti Architecture
Palazzo Pitti comes from a long architecture tradition which finds its roots in the Italian Renaissance.
Today we stand in a complete different moment. When the Renaissance conquered the world and it became mainstream for some centuries in variations with other styles which finds their origin back to Rome, it reached northern Europe in a second wave with the growing industrialisation, where the elements of the facadism could be easily mass produced. But at the end still many elements had been handmade and brought together on the site.
This is where we are in an ongoing process with the past. We just carefully edit new elements towards the old substance to strengthen it´s unique features and to introduce a contemporary moment of Zeitgeist into the building.
But at the same moment only materials, which resisted strong enough against the permanent erosion through time are kept in this process.
Therefore the concept for every element introduced in the in and outside process are basic materials such as concrete, wood and steel.
Since we coming from a long tradition of amazing designers you will find at many hidden moments a quotation here and there to the old masters.
